Considering this article, I wonder if anyone has noticed a parallel between today’s China’s wealthy and the final years of emperor Qin Shi Huang?

Now, I wonder if dinner party discussions over the next few years will migrate towards conversations about multimedia mausoleum surrounded by thousands of holographic representations of all their social media followers, fellow track runners, and prior dinner guests. Those holograms would be rendered in vivid colors and life-size, displaying their occupations and the corporate entities they own represented as mythical beasts that they’re riding.

Inside their mausoleum would be a virtual reality world representing the physical world they wanted to create and/or believe they would be in, at least, after uploading their consciousness. Completing their virtual reality world, inside it would be a shrine to the party inhabited be idealized party representatives in their perfection and immortal.
